About the position

The Operations Manager is a full-time position working under limited direction at HFPIC. The position has a critical role in supporting the Manager and the Centre’s day-to-day operations. The role is the main supervisor in all activities ensuring high-quality visitor services and the smooth running of the working teams. HFPIC is open seven days a week with some weekend work and irregular hours being a requirement of the role. This is a demanding role with high-level responsibility and some official representational duties, often working without supervision. The position is full time, five days per week, but operates on a seven-day roster.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the delivery of visitor services, facilities and ground management to ensure the high standard of the visitor experience.
  • Supervise a team of staff members responsible for the delivery of direct support to the HFPIC.
  • Manage and be responsible for HFPIC in the absence of the Manager, including liaison and decision making with Australian Government officials.
  • Lead day-to-day operations of the HFPIC locally engaged staff and contracted ground maintenance staff. Ensure the highest level of leadership integrity and positive behaviour.
  • Manage recruitment, training, personal development planning, workload allocation, rostering and resource management in collaboration with the Australian Embassy and private companies.
  • Manage and report on all HFPIC financial functions and administration including revenue taking, banking, account expenditure, budget forecasting and financial reporting and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and where responsible lead the planning and execution of all major and minor events that HFPIC plays a key role in, i.e. Anzac Day, Remembrance Day, and both foreign and Australian commemorative services.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a representational role with responsibility for liaising with representatives of government, tourism industry and the local business community at a senior level would be preferred
  • Experience in the management of a medium sized team including a proven ability to assess complex scenarios and make decisions under pressure to meet demanding timeframes.
  • Excellent written and spoken language skills in both English and Thai.
  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Good computer skills with a working knowledge of Accounting Software (MYOB) and the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Desirable

  • Experience in living or working with Australian culture in the tourism or hospitality industry.
